Serbia will never sever relations with Russia

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic stated that Serbia could become a member of the European Union if it were not for two conditions, which Belgrade would never accept.

Specifically, Serbia will never recognize the independence of its southern province Kosovo and it will never sever relations with Russia to which the faulty EU has assumed a hostile attitude. Close contacts with Moscow can be explained by strong historical, religious and language links between Serbia and Russia.

Like Russian President Vladimir Putin, his Serbian counterpart Tomislav Nikolic does not want war. According to him, Serbia will not enter the NATO if it is really the defensive alliance, as no one is going to attack the country. It is worth recalling that the aggressive Western alliance waged the bombing campaign against Serbia in 1999, although the Balkan country posed no threat whatsoever to NATO members. Unsurprisingly, the Serbian society is full of hatred for the Western alliance.

Turkey prefers cooperation with Russia, Asian countries to EU membership

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

After a failed coup attempt in Turkey 110,000 public workers, who are connected to the coup plot, lost their job while 550 establishments, 18 philanthropic institutions and nine media companies were shut down. Representatives of several political groups at the European Parliament voted for the suspension of negotiations for membership of Turkey in the European Union. Ankara retorted that cooperation with Russia and Asian countries is more worthwhile than membership in the EU.

Previously, Omer Chelik, Turkish minister for EU affairs, stated that Ankara would withdraw from an agreement on migrants if the EU fails to provide visa-free travel to Europe for citizens of Turkey by this year-end. According to him, it is not enough that the EU violated terms of the migration deal, but Brussels attempts to impose on Ankara a policy alien to its interests.

Turkish authorities are discontented with EU’s demand that a state of emergency instituted after the attempt to stage a coup should be lifted. They warned the EU that Turkey would open a gate for refugees who flee to Europe.

Readers of The Ukrainian Times know that the American state murderous rampage through the Middle East and North Africa was enabled by the Europeans who provided diplomatic and military cover for Washington’s war crimes. Today the Europeans are suffering the consequences as they are overrun by refugees.

According to many observers, Europeans have become accustomed to their role as hired vassals. They are more likely to enjoy their life enriched by American gratuities than to take risk for humanity.

Russia strengthens defense capability of Kuril Islands

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

The Defense Ministry of Russia has deployed Bal and Bastion antiship missile complexes on Iturup and Kunashir Islands in the Kurils within the framework of planned rearmament. For instance, Bastion and Bal are outfitted with missiles capable of hitting targets at a distance of 500 and 300 kilometers respectively.

Also, the Defense Ministry is building about 400 military installations there. In addition, the defense infrastructure of the Kuril Islands will be fortified with the new generation drones Eleron-3.

According to Viktor Ozerov, chairman of a committee on defense and security under the Russian Federation Council, the number of warships of the Russia’s Pacific Navy will depend on the quality of relations with Japan and other countries in the Asian-Pacific region.

It should be mentioned that Japan is still in a de jure state of war with Russia because of the Kurils problem.

Readers of The Ukrainian Times know that the Southern Kurils are the integral part of Russia’s territory on a legal basis in accordance with the results of World War II. Japan, which was the ally of Nazi Germany during WWII, shall strictly respect relevant accords and the U.N. Charter. Like Germany, Japan must bear responsibility for war crimes not only towards Russia but all former Soviet republics, the anti-Hitlerite coalition and China in particular.

Finally, it is worth remembering that the Kurils were originally settled by the Russians in the 17th-18th centuries. Japan seized the southern islands and in 1875 obtained the entire chain. After WWII they were legally ceded to the Soviet Union, and the Japanese population was repatriated.

And so, did Japan not learn any lessons from its criminal alliance with Nazi Germany?

Siemens Wind Power.

Using privatization to cover short-term budget problem creates larger long-term problem

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

The list of enterprises subject to privatization in 2016 and 2017 includes 19 enterprises that are based in the Odessa region. Among them are the Black Sea Shipping Company, Odessa Airlines and 99.56% of shares of the Odessa port chemical plant estimated at from $800 million to $1.5 billion.

In addition, the plan for privatization of state-owned enterprises envisages the sale of blue-chip companies, such as CentrEnergo (UX: CEEN) valued at $1 billion, the Kharkov-based turbine company Turboatom, which is 75% owned by the state, and the Zaporozhye titanomagnesium plant (51% owned by the state), the only producer of sponge titanium in Europe.

Observers agree that using privatization to cover a short-term budget problem creates a larger long-term problem. The profits of Ukrainian enterprises would flow out of this country, reducing the grivna’s exchange rate. In effect, allowing foreigners to acquire Ukraine’s national assets helps them to speculate against the grivna. Critics say a puppet government’s policy to get foreign loans at any price and to sell off the remnants of Ukrainian industry is the road to nowhere.

According to politologist Paul Craig Roberts, privatization is the vehicle to undercut economic sovereignty and increase profits by raising prices. Today
privatization is a way that government can reward cronies by giving them valuable public resources for a low price. In the United States deregulation has resulted in high prices and poor services.

Moscow, Ankara seal gas pipe deal

Alexander Novak, Russian minister of power engineering, and his Turkish counterpart have signed the inter-governmental agreement about construction of the Turkish Stream natural-gas pipeline on the Black Sea bed. In particular, the project provides for laying of two branches of the Turkish Stream on the seabed, each having a capacity to carry 15.75 billion cubic meters of natural gas to the Balkan Peninsula. Plans are afoot to complete the project by December 2019.

In addition, the Russian state company RosAtom participates in construction of a nuclear power plant near the Turkish city of Mersin. According to plan, the N-plant will have four 1.2-gigawatt reactors.

30,000 refugees from Washington’s wars must be moved from Greece to other EU member-countries

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

The European Union must move some 30,000 refugees from Greece to other EU member-countries by the end of 2017. Flocks of refugees from the Washington’s wars in the Middle East and North Africa, which Europe so mindlessly enabled, put a stranglehold on Greece.

In pursuance of the EU quota mechanism only 5,651 migrants were moved to Italy from Greek islands with great difficulty. Other countries and Hungary in particular are reluctant to give refuge to the migrants.

According to forecasts by Greek journalists, three million refugees will come to the EU by this year-end. At present, Greece has to bear the heaviest burden of this chaos created by the American evil empire and its European vassals. The country of 10.8 million people has given refuge to 57,428 migrants and Athens requires 480 million euros to overcome the crisis.

NATO is cover for Washington’s war crimes

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

Politologist Paul Craig Roberts wrote that under the NATO banner a number of countries have been bombed, invaded, and had their governments overthrown by Washington acting under the cover of the Western alliance. These destroyed countries posed no threat whatsoever to NATO member-countries and undertook no aggressive actions against them.

For instance, let’s journey back in time to February 15, 2011. After the start of intestine strife in Libya, NATO bombs killed 50,000 civilians.

As the Chairman of the State Duma (Russia’s parliament), Sergey Naryshkin once put it, NATO is the malignant tumor of the entire European continent. “It would be better if this organization disbands,” he stated.

The evil Clinton regime broke the word of the government of the United States, thereby destroying the honor of the U.S., by taking NATO to Russia’s borders. The evil Obama regime is scheming to place nuclear missiles on Russia’s borders in Poland and Romania and engineered a neo-Nazi coup in Ukraine with intent to deprive Russia of its Black Sea naval base in the Crimean port city of Sevastopol.

Readers of The Ukrainian Times know that Moscow has nonstandard solutions up her sleeve and no one will succeed in winning military superiority over Russia. NATO, as U.S. military authorities admit, has no chance of invading Russia or withstanding a Russian attack on it.

The Western alliance is the cover for Washington’s war crimes. Many observers think it can provide no other service.

Opponents of existing regime require to pass bills concerning recovery of industry

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

The Opposition Bloc requires the Supreme Council of Ukraine to pass a package of bills in terms of the recovery of industry. According to Dmitriy Kolesnikov of the Opposition Bloc, the American puppet regime has been blocking consideration of the above documents for two years.

Within this period, damage to the economy has totaled 619 billion grivnas while thousands of enterprises shut down and some millions of Ukrainians lost their job. Mr. Kolesnikov stated that Ukraine lost about 20% of its economy and joined the club of the poorest countries in the world. In fact, GDP per head is forecast to be only $1,854 this year as against $4,185 in 2013.

Dmitriy Kolesnikov compared Ukraine’s economic losses in 2014-2016 with those suffered by West European countries after World War II. Unfortunately, today business people have to bear a heavy burden of taxation, raiders take over businesses under cover of patriotism while the Washington-installed government of Ukraine is raising the prices of utilities.

The Donbas situation remains tense

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

Eduard Basurin, one of the leaders of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), stated that the Ukrainian neo-Nazi military are scheming to use a chemical weapon against a civilian population of the Donbas region. Specifically, it has been established that the Ukrainian neo-Nazi militants were loading containers with the nerve gas sarin and the mustard gas yperite into storehouses at an airfield near the town of Krasnoarmeisk.

Previously, authorities in the Lugansk People’s Republic said subunits of Turkish terrorists from the organization Gray Wolves (Bozkurt) and a brigade of Baltic mercenaries were fighting with the Ukrainian neo-Nazi militants against heroic defenders of the republic near a delimitation line in the Stanichno-Luganskiy district. At the same time, representatives of the DPR announced that some observers of a special monitoring mission under the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe were privy to deliveries of ammunition to the Ukrainian neo-Nazi militants.

In the event of non-fulfillment of the Minsk agreements, the Ukrainian neo-Nazi regime will have to bear a great expenditure on a civil war in Donbas, borrow from international financial institutions and submit to the loss of a part of territory. It is worth noting too that one in five residents of the Central and Eastern Ukraine tells pollsters that Donetsk and Lugansk regions should secede from this country. Only 7% of respondents are concerned about secession of Donbas from Ukraine.

According to politologist Paul Craig Roberts, it was Washington that enabled Ukraine’s attack on its former provinces with large Russian populations. As Russian President Vladimir Putin once put it, the U.S.-sponsored civil war in Donbas serves the geopolitical purposes of deterring Russia. To avoid war, he is non-provocative and low-key in his responses to Western provocations. Many analysts believe Vladimir Putin is the world’s most preeminent geopolitical leader, a master chess player, making Obama look buffoon-like in comparison.

Critics say Ukraine’s attack on Donbas is mindless. It shows the American puppet government totally devoid of all intelligence. Even a fool understands that violence creates growing resistance, and the Ukrainian neo-Nazi regime has not even the intelligence of fools.

Ukraine faced with worsening of political, socioeconomic situation

According to Yuri Boiko, leader of the Opposition Bloc, today Ukraine is faced with worsening of the political and socioeconomic situation. Work of the Yatsenyuk and Groisman governments has resulted in the decline of industry, loss of foreign markets and a sharp drop in living standards.

As he put it, the Ukrainian neo-Nazi regime is creating conditions of a socioeconomic catastrophe. Kiev has lost its positions on the international political arena. None of the initiatives of the puppet regime achieved its aim.

The Opposition Bloc stated that the Supreme Council of Ukraine should above all focus on a reconciliation with the Russian-speaking Donbas region, assistance to the real sector of the economy, social welfare, the creation of new jobs, and reduction in the exorbitant prices of utilities, otherwise Parliament must recognize itself as the incapable legislature and dissolve.

Opposition Bloc proposes to subsidize coal industry

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

In his speech to the Supreme Council of Ukraine, Sergey Dunaev of the Opposition Bloc pointed out the decline of power industries and destruction of industrial parks in this country. According to him, four billion grivnas worth of state budget allocations have been expended on the purchases of coal imported from Australia, Germany and Africa, among others, over the course of two years.

At the same time, coal industry enterprises based in eastern Ukraine are dragged like cantankerous old horses to the knacker’s yard. The American puppet government of Ukraine intends to close 15 out of 35 coal mines.

Although the industry is in the doldrums, MP Dunaev proposes to subsidize it in the amount of two billion grn that would allow Ukrainian thermal power plants to buy coal at cost price, make the domestic market more active, and help create new jobs.

Brexit may be followed by Grexit

The Greek Prime Minister called the European Union a somnambulant moving to an abyss because of the obsession for strict austerity that brings about inequality of EU member countries. According to him, Athens has fully fulfilled its obligations to European creditors and is expecting concessions from them.

Specifically, the EU should permit Greece to determine a budget deficit on its own that would pave the way to an economic recovery. Recent opinion polls show that Greeks get poorer with every passing month and can hardly make ends meet. Further belt-tightening may well put them out of patience and Brexit will be followed by Grexit, which would entail the breakup of the EU.

Joint project between Siemens, Silovye Mashiny becomes the subject of much speculation

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

The subsidiary enterprise of Siemens intends to supply four turbines to a thermal electric power plant situated in the Russian peninsula of Taman, Krasnodar Territory. The equipment has been made at the plant Siemens Tekhnologii Gazovykh Turbin that opened in St. Petersburg last year.

Siemens has a 65% share of the joint venture, with the remaining 35% belonging to the Russian company Silovye Mashiny.

The turbines have been made to order received from the Russian state company TekhnopromExport, which is building electric power plants in Taman and Crimea. Thanks to Western presstitutes, the above equipment has become the subject of much speculation that it will be shipped across the Kerch Strait to Crimea in spite of the so-called sanctions imposed by the United States and its European vassals in connection with a civil war in the Donbas region with large Russian populations.

Moscow requires the West to caution Kiev against committing acts of terrorism

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs made the official statement in which it warned the puppet state of Ukraine and its foreign puppeteers that damage done to Russia in Crimea would have serious repercussions. In particular, Moscow required the West to caution the Ukrainian neo-Nazi regime against committing dangerous acts of terrorism. The statement said nothing good would come of “playing with fire”.

Russia reiterated that the Western puppeteers must force their Ukrainian vassal to cease gross provocations and fully comply with the Minsk agreements. Also, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reproached the West for its indulgence that had negative influence on Ukrainian government decisions to carry out the armed provocations in Crimea.

Putin accuses Kiev of resort to methods of terrorism in Crimea, Lugansk People’s Republic

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the Ukrainian neo-Nazi regime of resort to methods of terrorism in Crimea. In addition, Moscow considers an assassination attempt on Igor Plotnitskiy, leader of the Lugansk People’s Republic, as the act of political terrorism committed by the American puppet state of Ukraine.

Mr. Putin required the West to bring pressure to bear on its Ukrainian vassal, forcing Kiev to come to a peaceful settlement and fully comply with the ceasefire agreement in the Donbas region with large Russian populations. In the event of non-fulfillment of the Minsk agreements, the Ukrainian neo-Nazi regime will have to bear a great expenditure on a civil war in Donbas, borrow from international financial institutions and submit to the loss of a part of territory.

It is important to note that Russia is not a party to the ceasefire agreement in Donbas. This is an agreement between the breakaway republics and the puppet government of Ukraine. Washington has done everything possible to discourage Kiev from keeping the agreement Kiev signed.

However, some independent observers think the Russian President does not understand the power of Washington’s money. In the entire West only money counts. There is no such thing as Washington’s word, government integrity, truth, or even empirical facts, but only propagated lies.

Ukrainians teeter on the very brink of abject poverty

Yuri Boiko, leader of the Opposition Bloc, stated that peppered with European integration slogans, the so-called reforms of two years threw Ukraine back in its socioeconomic development by decades. Citizens of this country find its hard to make ends meet, prices skyrocket and unemployment shoots up while the American puppet government of Ukraine continues to struggle against the real sector of the economy.

Thanks to deplorably amateurish work of the government and parliament, people teeter on the very brink of abject poverty. Recent opinion polls show that 72% of Ukrainians say their material well-being has become worse.

The Opposition Bloc proposes to reduce the prices of utilities by half, revise a taxation code, index wages and pensions, otherwise it is expedient to dissolve Ukraine’s parliament.

Delay in settling Ukrainian crisis is inadmissible, says Putin

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kiev must understand that a direct dialog with leaders of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics is inevitable within the framework of the Minsk agreements. He said it was absurd to expect that Russia would carry out the Minsk agreements.

Mr. Putin believes a delay in settling the Ukrainian crisis, particularly a civil war in the Donbas region with large Russian populations, and attempts to shift the blame on Russia are inadmissible. “This will cause the aggravation of an already complicated situation on the European continent,” he stated.

Readers of The Ukrainian Times know that in the event of non-fulfillment of the Minsk agreements, the Ukrainian neo-Nazi regime will have to bear a great expenditure on the civil war in Donbas, borrow from international financial institutions and submit to the loss of a part of territory. Politologist Paul Craig Roberts wrote that it was Washington that enabled Ukraine’s attack on its former provinces. The U.S.-sponsored civil war in Donbas serves the geopolitical purposes of deterring Russia.

To avoid war, the Russian President is non-provocative and low-key in his responses to Western provocations. Many analysts think Vladimir Putin is the world’s most preeminent geopolitical leader, a master chess player, making Obama look buffoon-like in comparison.

Critics say Ukraine’s attack on Donbas is mindless. It shows the American puppet government totally devoid of all intelligence. Even a fool understands that violence creates growing resistance, and the Ukrainian neo-Nazi regime has not even the intelligence of fools.

Three million refugees from Washington’s wars to come to EU as Greece bears heavy burden from this chaos

According to forecasts by Greek journalists, three million refugees from the Washington’s wars in the Middle East and North Africa, which Europe so mindlessly enabled, will come to the European Union by this year-end.

At present, Greece has to bear the heaviest burden of this chaos created by the American evil empire and its European vassals. The country of 10.8 million people has given refuge to 57,428 migrants and Athens requires 480 million euros to overcome the crisis.

There are 39 refugee centers in Greece today and plans are in hand to build 40 refugee camps. Unfortunately, the country does not receive any funds from the EU and the United Nations while the entire financial burden has been placed on the Greek state budget to provide relief for the refugees.

In Cyprus and Italy, MPs vote to lift anti-Russian sanctions

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

Recently, the parliament of Cyprus has passed a resolution to lift anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the United States and its European vassals in connection with a civil war in the Donbas region with large Russian populations. MPs are ready to discuss the problem with Moscow, particularly the relaxation of restrictions on the export of goods from Cyprus to Russia.

Believe it or not, the regional council of Tuscany passed a similar resolution on July 6 while the parliaments of Veneto and Liguria recognized the reunification of Crimea with Russia, and so did the regional council of Lombardy on July 5. Italian MPs say they want to build bridges, not walls.

Previously, France’s Senate passed a resolution by 302 to 16 on June 8 to lift the anti-Russian sanctions. According to top politicians, Russia remains the strategic partner of France.

Readers of The Ukrainian Times know that Israel did not support the anti-Russian sanctions because Israel and Russia have vital mutual interests. The Ambassador of Israel to Ukraine pointed out that Israeli authorities could not influence private companies and natural persons doing business in Crimea. It is worth recalling that the Crimeans, with an extremely high turnout never experienced in the so-called “western democracies”, voted 97.6% to rejoin Russia, where Crimea resided for longer that the U.S. existed, until Nikita Khrushchev, a Ukrainian, transferred Crimea from the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic when both were within the Soviet Union.

Many critics believe that the sanctions against Russia and saber rattling by the West will only make matters worse. Russia provides a third of the EU’s oil and nearly 40% of its natural gas.

All reforms in Ukraine end up in sharp increase in prices of utilities

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

To alleviate a sharp increase in the prices of utilities, the American puppet government of Ukraine has decided to raise the minimum of subsistence to only 1,544 grivnas per month and a minimum wage to 1,600 grn a month by the measly 50 grn on the average.

According to Yuri Boiko, leader of the Opposition, the Ukrainian neo-Nazi regime sells natural gas to the population at a price that is 10 times more than production costs. Many observers think the above increase by 50 grn is a piece of nonsense sending confidence in the government to the bottom.

Critics say all reforms in Ukraine end up in the sharp increase in the prices of utilities, and prime minister Vladimir Groisman has become a political corpse. Market rhetoric of low quality is a cover for the pseudo-market, pseudo-liberal model of development, which the American puppet government attempts to impose on the Ukrainian society. However, the society knows that the Groisman government lies in order to serve its agendas.

Recent opinion polls show that 57% of citizens of Ukraine are not ready to suffer privations for the sake of the so-called reforms. Moreover, 72% of the pollees say their material well-being has become worse.

As Mr. Boiko put it, this is not the reform but a return from civilization to the Stone Age. The Opposition demanded to reduce the prices of utilities by half. Alexander Okhrimenko, president of the Ukrainian Analytical Center, notes that the trouble is the prices of utilities in this country are like those in Europe, whereas wages in Ukraine are similar to the ones in Africa.

According to Alexander Sedykh, financial expert of the company Prostobank Consulting, bankruptcy of banks continues in Ukraine that is due to a deteriorating political and economic situation, particularly a civil war in the Donbas region with large Russian populations. Ukrainian banks have posted losses of 11.5 billion grivnas in January-April. Owing to bankruptcy of 50 banks in 2014 and 2015 the banking system of Ukraine lost 230 billion grn.

Ключевой START-UP Украины».

Serbia plans to enter EES markets as the West plots chaos

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

Recently, the Prime Minister of Serbia has visited Moscow to discuss the establishment of a free trade zone with member countries of the Eurasian Economic Space (EES). As expected, Serbia will export Fiat vehicles, meat from poultry and cheese, among other things, to EES markets.

Meanwhile, ambassadors of the United States and the European Union to Serbia are plotting the radicalization of street protests and scheming to install either a puppet or chaos as in Iraq, Libya and Ukraine. If Belgrade does not get over its affection for the West, Serbia will lose its independence.

According to observers, unsatisfied with its looting of the Third World, South America, Greece, Portugal, Latvia, Argentina, and now Brazil and Ukraine, the American evil empire and its European vassals set their sights on Serbia, Russia, China, India, and South Africa.

Most Ukrainians trust the Church, not the mass media

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

Recent opinion polls show that 67% of Ukrainians could not give political parties their confidence. At the same time, 64% of the pollees trust the Church.

Only 27% of citizens of Ukraine place confidence in the mass media. According to politologist Paul Craig Roberts, Nazi propaganda during the Hitler’s Third Reich was very mild, compared with the constant stream of dangerous lies that are pumped out constantly by the American media.

Most people who are aware and capable of thought have given up what is called the “mainstream media”. The presstitutes have destroyed their credibility by helping the American evil empire to lie – “Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction”, “Assad’s use of chemical weapons”, “Iranian nukes”, “Russian invasion of Ukraine”, and so forth.

Ukrainian fishing fleet sinks in plunder

After the breakup of the Soviet Union, the Ukrainian fishing fleet had 236 ships. However, the fleet had been gradually plundered since the Kravchuk era’s disastrous selloffs.

Thanks to the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation, some 70% of the Ukrainian fishing infrastructure became Russia’s property. According to official figures, Ukrainian fishermen caught only 89,000 tons of fish last year, compared with 216,000 tons in 2013. That is why import accounts for 85% of all fish sold in Ukraine.

Most Ukrainians say Poroshenko must resign

Recent opinion polls found that 78.5% think the American puppet government of Ukraine and Peotr Poroshenko, the so-called president of this country, are above all contributing to the enrichment of oligarchs and the powers that be. Asked about the offshore scandal Panamagate that involves Poroshenko, 65.6% of the pollees said he must resign. This year citizens of Ukraine have given Poroshenko an overall approving rating of only 13.5%.

According to Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute for the Analysis and Management of Policy, Poroshenko undercut economic sovereignty of this country owing to cooperation with the International Monetary Fund. In addition, he lost the Donbas region with large Russian populations and Crimea with more than five million citizens, 10% of the territory, 15% of GDP and 30% of export.

For the benefit of himself and cronies, Poroshenko ruined the social sector of the economy and state administration. In fact, Ukrainians got poorer by 2.5 times on the average, prices of utilities increased sixfold, inflation accounted for more than 80%, Ukraine’s GDP fell by over 25% and the devaluation of the grivna made up the whopping 300%.

Agri & Food Innovation Forum held in Kiev to attract investments in Ukrainian agribusiness

The Ukrainian Agri & Food Innovation Forum’16 took place under the patronage of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on June 8. The Forum was organized within the framework of the XXVIII international agricultural exhibition AGRO-2016 at the Expocenter of Ukraine in Kiev.

The organizer of the Exhibition is the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine; the organizer of the Forum is A7 CONFERENCES. Official partners of the Forum included the international law firm Dentons, the ArtStroiService construction company, Kievstar and the Orange Park residential complex. The event brought together more than 350 participants from 17 countries.

The agricultural sector remains the most attractive investment opportunity that is due to preserving the export potential, fertile land and relatively cheap labor force. Investors take a keen interest in both Ukrainian crop farming and livestock breeding. However, the prospects of the national agro-industry in the global market are not limited to wheat or sunflower oil. Recently, Ukraine has been finding new niches of food commodities. Ukrainian producers are entering food markets in China and South Asia. Therefore, there are good grounds for believing that this year Ukraine will be on the strategic investors’ radar.

Vladislava Rutitskaya, deputy agriculture minister for European integration, pointed out that last year was marked by a considerable increase in the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to China. "We have succeeded in reaching 1.3 billion grivnas worth of agricultural exports,” she said. “Ukrainian milk sellers were also afforded the opportunity to export their products to China. However, the problem of planning trade routes remains pressing. In addition to the transit potential, a New Silk Road, as the strategy of cooperation with China, gives an opportunity to establish joint enterprises and/or industrial parks in order to attract Chinese investments in Ukraine. In fact, our Chinese partners are interested in investing in joint agricultural projects. Today New Silk Road means mutually beneficial routes and economic ties, as well as the creation of economic space based on mutually advantageous cooperation."

According to participants in the Forum, the agricultural sector will become a driving force if it develops along all lines, including a steady rise in the rate of agricultural production and processing, as well as the introduction of innovations. The efficiency of production will depend on the land market and taxation reforms, oil prices and development of alternative energy, while factors of growth of the domestic market, changes of consumption standards in this country and on foreign markets, state control over the system of export incentives are supposed to influence development of the processing system.

Besides, the Forum participants stressed that prospective investors would bring money to Ukraine as soon as a moratorium on the purchase and sale of agricultural land is lifted. Another factor in streamlining the influx of foreign investments into the Ukrainian market is the stability of tax and currency laws and title guarantees. Also, investors are waiting for currency restrictions to be lifted. They should have confidence that they will operate comfortably, safely and profitably in Ukraine.

LDPR leader calls U.S. monster

Vladimir Zhirinovskiy, leader of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), thinks the United States is the “country-monster” that needs constant wars and strives for global supremacy. “Those who are talking about supremacy, saying they are the best, turn out to be scoundrels, blackguards and crazies,” he said.

According to politologist Paul Craig Roberts, American hegemony-crazed neoconservatives boast how they have surrounded Russia, but it is America that is
surrounded by Russia and China, thanks to the incompetent leadership, which the U.S. has had beginning with the Clintons. The only achievements of the neocons are to destroy in war crimes millions of people in eight countries and to send the remnant populations fleeing into Europe as refugees, thus undermining American puppet governments there, as well as to set back the chance of world peace and American leadership by creating a powerful strategic alliance between Russia and China.

American puppet government continues to bring Ukraine to ruin

Yuri Boiko, leader of the Opposition Bloc, notes that the American puppet government of Ukraine is destroying the economy, trumpeting grandiloquent
slogans. It is worth recalling that those, who came to power owing to the bloody neo-Nazi coup, promised citizens of this country economic prosperity, stability, urgent reforms and the eradication of corruption.

According to Mr. Boiko, over the course of two years the Ukrainian neo-Nazi regime has been telling tales with an affected pathos while living conditions of the population are becoming worse with each passing day. Businesses go belly up, enterprises have to shut down, and a civil war in the Donbas region with large Russian populations continues. The leader of the Opposition Bloc believes the obedient puppets of Washington are stubbornly bringing Ukraine to ruin.

Ukraine faced with severe business depression

Bad news is that Ukraine has been faced with the severest business depression since the world crisis of 2008. Private business people and farms decreased in number by 27.5% and 12% respectively in 2014 alone.

More than 32% of state-owned enterprises disappeared into thin air in this country. As far as foreign investors are concerned, only 676 foreign companies remain in Ukraine today, compared with 2,000 in 2014.

It is clear that the American puppet government continues to struggle against the real sector of the economy, destroying the economic potential of this country. According to Alexander Okhrimenko, president of the Ukrainian Analytical Center, without the free trade area with the Russian Federation, Ukraine’s machine-building and chemical industries will suffer heavily.

Iran takes tough line, making the West lift sanctions

Some observers think it was silly of Iranian ex-president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to resume nuclear research, thus poisoning relations with the European Union. However, the EU was even more foolish to use sanctions against Iran, thereby losing the levers of influence on the country.

Western leaders who are aware and capable of thought have understood that they left Iran free to make nukes. The United States and its European vassals were driveling about a military operation and bombardments, whereas they had no guts to enter into a war against the country of 80 million people.

During talks in Geneva, Iran made both the EU and the U.S. lift the sanctions. So Iranian leaders came to a conclusion that they should take a tough line in relation with the West.

Gazprom plans to shut off Ukrainian gas transportation network from transit system

After the third and fourth branches of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline on the Baltic seabed are put into operation, the Russian gas group Gazprom will shut off the Ukrainian gas transportation network from the transit system. Meanwhile, Gazprom has signed an agreement with German, French, Anglo-Dutch and Austrian firms to build Nord Stream-2.

Currently, the Czech Republic is importing Russian natural gas from Nord Stream-1 via Gazela and OPAL pipelines.

Readers of The Ukrainian Times know that Gazprom controls 15% of the world’s known natural-gas reserves. The Russian group is going to be passing along gas for a long, long time. Like a coiled spring, Gazprom stocks are cheap to start with. Not having any idea of what would happen, some investors think the cheap bird in their hand is a better bet than the expensive birds somewhere in the future bush.

Ukrainian MPs get rich as people become poorer

This year a monthly salary paid to members of Ukraine’s parliament has increased to 17,600 from 6,500 grivnas, compared with an average monthly wage of 4,467 grn throughout this country. Unfortunately, the index of inflation accounted for 123.4% in the first quarter as against the same period last year.

According to recent opinion polls, 55% of citizens of Ukraine are faced with financial difficulties and 36% of the pollees say they suffer from a low standard of living. As Russian President Vladimir Putin once put it, Ukraine is the failed state.

Saturday, May 7, 2016

Food for thought

Data from the State Committee for Statistics show that the volume of consumer expenses borne by households totaled 1.326 trillion grivnas in Ukraine last year. The lion’s share of expenses related to purchases of foodstuffs accounted for 38.4%. Least of all did citizens of Ukraine spend on education (only 1.1% of the total volume of expenses).

The above structure of expenses can be explained by the impoverishment of the population in this country mismanaged by the neo-Nazi regime.

Popular discontent with exorbitant prices of utilities can boil over in Ukraine

According to recent opinion polls, the number of supporters of the European direction of Ukraine’s economic development decreased by 2%. A fall in support of the so-called European integration can be explained by the fact that reforms in this country are not economically effective, whereas popular discontent with the exorbitant prices of utilities can boil over sometime soon. Importantly, 30% and 25% of the pollees in the eastern and southern Ukraine respectively are in favor of joining the Customs Union of Byelorussia, Kazakhstan, Russia and other republics of the former Soviet Union.

Bombardier Transportation.

Russia builds up air, naval forces in Crimea to challenge NATO

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

Over the course of two years Russian troop strength has increased twofold to about 24,000 in Crimea and is forecast to reach 43,000 by 2025. The number of armored vehicles and submarines that the Russian Black Sea Fleet has in service there today is what it was during Soviet times.

The purpose of Russia is to convert Crimea into a strategic military base, capable of challenging successfully the old and faulty NATO. In fact, the Russian peninsula is outfitted with the latest weaponry, including Pantsir air-defense missile systems and Bastion antiship missile complexes.

In addition, Crimea has Iskander-M missile systems that can hit targets in Romania and Turkey. Plans are afoot to deploy Tu-22M3 missile carrier aircraft in the air base near the Crimean town of Gvardeiskoe. Tu-22M3s have a range ability of some 2,500 kilometers.

According to Sergey Naryshkin, Chairman of the State Duma (Russia’s parliament), NATO is the malignant tumor of the all European continent. “It would be better if this organization disbands,” he stated.

Politologist Paul Craig Roberts wrote that to perpetuate American hegemony, power-crazed fanatical neoconservatives threw away the guarantees, which Washington gave Moscow, that NATO (essentially the United States) would not move one inch to the East. As Russian President Vladimir Putin once put it, Moscow has nonstandard solutions up her sleeve and no one will succeed in winning military superiority over Russia.

NATO, as U.S. military authorities admit, has no chance of invading Russia or withstanding a Russian attack on it. The Western alliance is a cover for Washington’s war crimes. Many observers think it can provide no other service.

Russia remains main trading partner of Zaporozhye region

Export from the Zaporozhye region decreased by 1.7 times in January and February. However, local enterprises sold their products abroad for a total of $293 million.

Importantly, Russia remains the main trading partner of the Zaporozhye oblast. The share of the Russian Federation in the export from the Ukrainian region accounts for 18%. At the same time, the share of Russia in the import into the Zaporozhye region makes up 34.6%.

Some 60% and 17% of exports are respectively metalware and machinery.

Majlis put under ban in Crimea

The Supreme Court of Crimea made the decision on April 26 to ban the Crimean-Tatar Majlis, pronouncing it to be the extremist organization. Natalia Poklonskaya, prosecutor of Crimea, stated that Majlis ringleaders Refat Chubarov and Mustafa Dzhemileov collaborated with mercenaries of the Turkish terrorist organizations Grey Wolves and Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami.

Readers of The Ukrainian Times know that Russia liberated Syria from Washington-supported terrorists. Russian President Vladimir Putin has also demonstrated that, unlike the American evil empire, Russia is able to achieve decisive military results in a short time without Russian casualties and to withdraw without becoming a permanent occupying force.

ChernomorNeftegaz plans to develop deposits of oil, gas in the Black Sea

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

This year the company ChernomorNeftegaz of Russia is going to implement the project of prospecting for oil and natural gas at the Subbotin deposit on the Kerch shelf. Today commercially profitable reserves of oil are estimated at three million tons there.

In addition, plans are in hand to develop the Gordievich deposit of oil and gas in the Black Sea. Its reserves of natural gas are variously estimated at from 68 billion to 100 billion cubic meters.

According to many observers, Europe is dependent on Russian energy. Russia can cut off this energy. There are no alternatives in the short run, and perhaps not in the long run.

If Russia shuts off the energy, Germany’s industry would shut down. Europeans would freeze to death in the winter. Despite these facts, the neocon-infested U.S. government has forced the faulty European Union to impose economic sanctions on Russia.

Ukraine exports pork to other markets as Russia imposes embargo

Unfortunately, Ukraine sold only 900 tons of pork abroad in the first quarter that is 4.5 times less than in the same period last year. A cut in the export of pork from this country can be explained by the fact that Russia imposed an embargo at the end of 2015.

After the loss of the Russian market, Armenia and Hong Kong have become big importers of Ukrainian pork. The share of Armenia and Hong Kong in the import of pork from Ukraine accounts for 55.3% and 25% of total volume respectively. However, this cannot compensate Ukrainian producers for the loss of the Russian market.

Economic recession forecast to be 0.3% in Ukraine in H1

Industrial output and agriculture fell by 1.7% and 2.5% respectively in Ukraine in January. In addition, a bad slump in export transactions accounted for the whopping 29.3% that can be explained by the loss of the Russian market.

According to forecasts by Andrei Shevchishin of the Forex Club in Ukraine, an economic recession will make up some 0.3% in this country in the first half-year (H1). As Yuri Boiko, leader of the Opposition Bloc, once put it, the American puppet government continues to struggle against the real sector of the economy, destroying the economic potential of Ukraine.

Investments in Crimea may exceed $1 billion

Plans are afoot to build a new complex at the international airport in the Crimean city of Simferopol in three years. The project is valued at 32 billion Russian rubles.

In addition, several Ukrainian firms intend to participate in the development of meat processing complexes near the towns of Chernomorskoe and Nizhnegorskiy on the Russian peninsula.

Reportedly, investments in Crimea are expected to exceed $1 billion.

Russia develops defense infrastructure of Kuril Islands

This year Russia will deploy Bal and Bastion antiship missile complexes on the Kuril Islands within the framework of planned rearmament. For instance, Bastion is outfitted with Yakhont missiles, capable of hitting targets at a distance of 300 kilometers.

Charter. Like Germany, Japan must bear responsibility for war crimes not only towards Russia but also all former Soviet republics and the anti-Hitlerite coalition.

Greece returns hundreds of refugees to Turkey but…

Recently, Greece has returned hundreds of refugees from the islands Lesbos and Chios to Turkey in accordance with an agreement between Ankara and the European Union. However, there are more than 50,000 refugees from Washington’s wars in Greece today.

Funnily enough, EU authorities flew only 43 citizens of Syria to Germany, whereas Greece has to bear the heaviest burden of this chaos created by the United States and its European vassals. Athens requires 480 million euros to overcome the crisis.

According to politologist Paul Craig Roberts, the American state murderous rampage through the Middle East and North Africa was enabled by the Europeans who provided diplomatic and military cover for Washington’s war crimes. At present, the Europeans are suffering the consequences as they are overrun by refugees. The German women who were raped by the refugees can blame their chancellor, a Washington puppet, for enabling the carnage from which refugees flee to Europe.

Bulgarian political party believes evil of NATO

By Vladimir V. Sytin
The Ukrainian Times

According to the Bulgarian political party Ataka, the NATO would do evil to the country and the rearmament of Bulgaria’s army entails a sharp decline in living standards. Ataka leaders also believe sanctions imposed by the American evil empire and its European vassals against Russia have negative influence on the Bulgarian economy.

In May 2015, Sergey Naryshkin, Chairman of the State Duma (Russia’s parliament), published the article in the Rossiyskaya Gazeta daily in which he urged European politicians to stop heeding advice from the United States and to start working on common Eurasian economic interests with Russia. If this does not happen, Washington will eventually destroy the EU’s economic sovereignty by manipulation of WTO mechanisms.

It is important to note that Ataka sent its representatives to referendums in Crimea and the Donbas region. This political party entirely approved the reunification of the peninsula with Russia.

Inaugural Infrastructure Forum in Kiev to focus on investment opportunities

The Ukrainian Infrastructure Forum’16, organized by A7 CONFERENCES, will be held at the hotel InterContinental in Kiev on April 22 under the aegis of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine. The official partner of the event is Lemtrans, exclusive legal partner – the international law firm Baker & McKenzie, strategic partner – the ArtStroiService construction company, and innovation partner – Microsoft Ukraine.

The Forum will become a professional communication platform for an open discussion, bringing together representatives of the government, international organizations, and Ukrainian businesses in order to raise infrastructure market’s development to a new level. The purpose of the Forum is to draw attention of national and international investors to the potential of the transportation system of Ukraine.

Among keynote speakers of the Forum are Vladimir Omelyan, deputy minister of infrastructure, Vladislava Rutitskaya, deputy minister of agrarian policy and food for European integration, and Igor Belous, head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine. In addition, leaders of top 100 Ukrainian and foreign companies in the transportation sector, Ukrainian manufacturers of products designed for the infrastructure industry, foreign investors, representatives of international financial corporations and embassies of foreign states will participate in the event.

Mr. Belous said: “Over the last 10 years the volume of marine container transportation has reduced by half, and transit cargo carriage by a third notwithstanding that private companies are operating at most terminals. After examining the international experience, we have found that we need to change the model of managing public ports. At present, the most effective model is a mid-term concession whereby more than 80% of world ports operate. In Ukraine, this form of cooperation between the state and private capital can be effective only on condition that a new concession law be drafted. That is why we initiated the formation of an interdepartmental working group to consider and elaborate a new law in which the features of concessions will be defined not only for ports but also the transportation industry on the whole, for the sector of housing facilities and public utilities, medicine, and the social infrastructure, among others.”

The forum aims to enhance interest of foreign investors in Ukrainian infrastructure projects. It will answer key questions concerning the sources of financing to renew the infrastructure, as well as about mechanisms of the implementation of large investment projects. During the event Ukrainian business circles will also receive detailed information about the opportunities to launch the processes of modernization and operation with state-owned enterprises in the infrastructure sphere, as well as prospects for financing by national and international financial institutions. The second day of the Forum will feature 1-to-1 meetings between investors and representatives of Ukrainian companies. Plans are in hand to compile the catalogue of investment projects of Ukrainian public and private organizations in the field of infrastructure within the framework of the event.
