Ukraine's energy investment opportunities to be discussed in Kiev

The private investment party EnergyCruise'19, organized by A7 CONFERENCES, will take place on the river ship Rosa Victoria in Kiev on May 31. The event is supported by the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association and the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine.

The interest in clean energy has spread to every corner of the globe, undermining the long-held assumption that a strong economic future is reliant on fossil fuels, particularly in the developing world. Today the most promising trend is the development of renewable energy, which will be under discussion in the first session "Renewable Energy Development in Ukraine in 2019-2020". An important move in the realm of renewable energy will be the introduction of auctions, as well as changes in the regulatory mechanisms of rates set by energy supplying enterprises. Given that the basic act governing the sector is still the Law of Ukraine "On the Electricity Market", forecasts intended for solar and wind power producers will also be under debate at EnergyCruise'19 within the framework of this document. The clean energy future is not just possible and desirable – it is essential.

In the meanwhile, Ukraine's natural gas market produces record results. According to official data, the joint-stock company UkrGasDobycha produced 15.496 billion cubic meters of natural gas last year, which is a record figure over the last 25 years. In fact, the gas sector is one of the most lucrative industries, and leading stakeholders will share thoughts on its development during the panel session "Integration into the EU and Reforms of Ukraine's Gas Market".

Jody Chudley, senior analyst of The Daily Edge, wrote that when used for power generation, natural gas is by far the cleanest hydrocarbon. Natural gas emits as 50% less carbon dioxide than coal while generating virtually no sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, mercury or particulates, all of which are undesirable side effects from burning coal.
