KPI administration meets innovative players from U.S., China

Representatives of the administration of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute (KPI) named for Igor Sikorsky and its several subdivisions met with the delegation of innovative players from the United States and China on November 8.

The delegation included Victor Korsun and Douglas Graham, U.S. founders of the Ideation Innovation Management Platform; Rosana Wong, executive director of Hong Kong based Yau Lee Holdings Limited; Yau Lee representative Tony Leung; and Professor Wong. As far as the KPI representatives are concerned, Rector Mikhail Zgurovsky; Mikhail Ilchenko, Vice-Rector for Research; Konstantin Yefremov, director of the World Data Center for Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development; and Sergey Pukha, chief designer of the design bureau Storm; among others, took part in the meeting.

The participants in the meeting discussed the establishment of joint laboratories on the basis of the university, which would focus on the areas of common interest. In particular, the potential areas of interest could be the space technologies of monitoring the Earth's surface, and sustainable development projects involving smart mobility. Therefore, the guests heard the presentations of a program for building and orbiting KPI nanosatellites; the project of forming a grouping of microsatellites for Earth remote sensing; as well as projects implemented by the World Data Center, including scientific foresight studies. In addition, the delegation got an insight into the set-up and activities of the innovation ecosystem Sikorsky Challenge, and about the project of planning the Polyteco Science City.

At the end of the meeting, its participants touched upon some questions concerning the organization of the work of joint laboratories and agreed to prepare concrete proposals for their establishment.
